Pese a que Juan Prieto era da parte espa\u00f1ola desta aldea, casou na portuguesa e, seg\u00fan contan os veci\u00f1os que entrevistamos, era al\u00ed onde m\u00e1is tocaba este gaiteiro. A s\u00faa gaita \u00e9 un fermoso exemplo de gaita de fol probablemente sanabresa a xulgar pola s\u00faa escala moi pr\u00f3xima ao modo de La. Este instrumento foi mercado por Ernesto Veiga de Oliveira a Juan Prieto Chimeno nunha data indeterminada, pero moi seguramente arredor dos anos 1961-63 cando Juan Prieto foi gravado por este etn\u00f3logo.<\/p>\n<p>[Referencia: Alberto Jambrina. En: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.academia.edu\/122721584\/Juan_Barrio_el_gaitero_y_artesano_que_cre%C3%B3_escuela_Alberto_Jambrina_Leal_Pedralba_de_la_Prader%C3%ADa_12_08_24%5D\">https:\/\/www.academia.edu\/122721584\/Juan_Barrio_el_gaitero_y_artesano_que_cre\u00f3_escuela_Alberto_Jambrina_Leal_Pedralba_de_la_Prader\u00eda_12_08_24]<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ernesto Veiga de Oliveira depositou esta gaita de fol nos fondos do Museu Nacional de Etnologia de Lisboa co n\u00famero de inventario BB041 onde puidemos analizala no ver\u00e1n do ano 2014 para despois facer <a href=\"https:\/\/pablocarpintero.es\/producto\/gaita-de-fol-de-juan-prieto-chimeno\/\">a s\u00faa r\u00e9plica e aprender seu repertorio e xeito de tocar<\/a>. As\u00ed pois, esta gaita leva sen seren empregada uns 65 anos.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Consta esta gaita de ronc\u00f3n, soprete e punteiro, todos moi probablemente fabricados en madeira de urz a xulgar pola presenza no ronc\u00f3n e na camp\u00e1 do punteiro dalg\u00fans n\u00f3s caracter\u00edsticos desta madeira. O ronc\u00f3n e o soprete te\u00f1en unha grosa capa de verniz que o fuste do punteiro non amosa, quizais pola erosi\u00f3n do mesmo. O soprete e o ronc\u00f3n te\u00f1en un torneado cun acabado entre bon e regular que poderiamos dar como caracter\u00edstico de Juan Barrio Rodr\u00edguez (1884-1967), famoso gaiteiro e construtor que viv\u00edu en Pedralba de la Prader\u00eda en Sanabria. Facemos esta asignaci\u00f3n porque os co\u00f1ecidos como Gaiteros de Pedrazales (Sanabria), Tarsicio e Modesto Espada (Tarsicio tam\u00e9n construtor de gaitas), pos\u00faen varias gaitas cuns torneados semellantes nos ronc\u00f3ns e nos sopretes que din foron fabricadas por Juan Barrio, por m\u00e1is que non puidemos comprobar este extremo. A este respecto, Alberto Jambrina inf\u00f3rmanos de que Ceferino Espada \u201cAlvarico\u201d, ascendente destes gaiteiros, aseguraba que nos anos 1940 ou 1950 lle mercara unha destas gaitas a Juan Barrio [Alberto Jambrina, Op. cit]. Por outra banda, nunha fotograf\u00eda que se conserva de Juan Barrio coa gaita ao lombo [fig. 2], publicada por Garc\u00eda Matos na <i>Magna Antolog\u00eda del Folklore Espa\u00f1ol<\/i>, polo tanto, unha fotograf\u00eda anterior a 1960 malia que non saibamos canto, podemos apreciar moi ben un soprete de id\u00e9ntico torneado ao desta gaita e a prima do ronc\u00f3n tam\u00e9n moi semellante; Ademais, esta mesa ten unha grosa anela de lat\u00f3n, e ambas est\u00e1n cruzadas por un dese\u00f1o inciso [fig. 1] que tampouco achamos nin nos punteiros de Pedrazales, nin en ning\u00fan outro punteiro sanabr\u00e9s que te\u00f1amos visto. Esta camp\u00e1 est\u00e1 xunguida ao fuste por unha grande e traballada anela de metal [ver a fig. 1]. Non se trata de ning\u00fan xeito da camp\u00e1 dun clarinete xunguida a un punteiro como temos escoitado algunha vez. Esta camp\u00e1 desmontable \u00e9 una estrutura \u00fanica entre todos os punteiros do noroeste que puidemos analizar ata a data, e non aparece tampouco nos punteiros de Pedrazales. Noutra fotograf\u00eda que temos de Juan Barrio na praza de touros de Zamora en 1927 [fig. 5], p\u00f3dese apreciar un punteiro cunha camp\u00e1 moi semellante, un dato a ter en conta.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> Poder\u00eda tratarse, como logo veremos, da mesma gaita que Juan Barrio sost\u00e9n na fotograf\u00eda anterior, seguramente bastante posterior no tempo a esta. Ignoramos se este punteiro \u00e9 un dos orixinais que se asigna a Juan Barrio ou unha copia do mesmo realizada por Tarsicio, o que poder\u00eda explicar en parte as disimilitudes dos interiores, malia que as diferenzas son tan grandes que dificilmente unha copia realizada cun m\u00ednimo de interese as producir\u00eda.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 Posto que os diferentes artes\u00e1ns mante\u00f1en sempre unha perfecta uniformidade no seu estilo de torneado e sendo o costume xeral da maior parte dos artes\u00e1ns antigos que temos documentado ata a data ter unha soa ferramenta para fabricar todos os seus modelos de punteiros, ou polo menos, de manter a mesma conicidade nas s\u00faas coitelas de labrar os interiores, \u00e9 moi probable que se os punteiros de Pedrazales son efectivamente fabricados por Juan Barrio, este punteiro de Juan Prieto Chimeno sexa doutro artes\u00e1n, ou ao rev\u00e9s. O caso \u00e9 que semella que algunha destas d\u00faas gaitas, a de Pedrazales ou a de Juan Prieto, ter\u00eda sa\u00eddo doutra man. O \u00fanico dato seguro que temos, fora das informaci\u00f3ns orais, son as fotograf\u00edas de Juan Barrio xa mencionadas, onde podemos ver a este gaiteiro sostendo unha gaita cun punteiro de grande camp\u00e1 (1927) e outra, anterior a 1960, onde o ollamos cun instrumento fornecido cun soprete e unha prima do ronc\u00f3n id\u00e9nticas \u00e1 da gaita de Juan Prieto. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-lzp1byx1-1820d5c813bc508d156dcaefc7fa25aa '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Para engadir m\u00e1is incerteza ao asunto, achamos na rede fotograf\u00edas doutra gaita de fol, achada polo artes\u00e1n Jorge Lira e asignada por el a Juan Barrio<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>[fig. 8], onde se olla a fotograf\u00eda dunha copa cun torneado que recorda algo ao da copa da gaita de Juan Prieto. Este artes\u00e1n asigna tam\u00e9n o punteiro achado, cunha grosa anela de marfil, a Juan Barrio, por m\u00e1is que \u00e9 absolutamente diferente tanto aos de Pedrazales, como ao da gaita de Juan Prieto Chimeno. Ignoramos polo momento o motivo desta asignaci\u00f3n, quizais sexa a lixeira semellanza entre esta copa e a da gaita de Juan Prieto, que xa comentamos \u00e9 considerada ata a data como fabricada por Juan Barrio. No entanto, se comparamos a copa da figura 8 coa da <a href=\"https:\/\/pablocarpintero.es\/producto\/gaita-de-fol-de-julio-prada\/\">gaita de Julio Prada<\/a> da figura 9, veremos que son absolutamente id\u00e9nticas, diferenci\u00e1ndose \u00fanicamente nuns poucos riscos sobre a madeira. Ambas copas sa\u00edron, polo tanto e con absoluta seguridade, da man do mesmo artes\u00e1n, e Julio Prada nunca dixo que a s\u00faa gaita de fol fose fabricada por Juan Barrio, por canto se a asignaci\u00f3n de Jorge Lira se basea nesta semellanza est\u00e1 equivocada. Luis Fernando L\u00f3pez tam\u00e9n nos fixo notar a grande semellanza entre este punteiro e os fabricados polo artes\u00e1n lucense \u00c1ngel Basadre (1932-2017), que produc\u00eda gaitas en Bertamil (Gunt\u00edn, Lugo). Amosamos dous dos seus punteiros na figura 9bis onde se fai patente a similitude nas li\u00f1as de torneado entre estes tres punteiros tanto na mesa como no remate da Puidemos observar que o punteiro de Juan Prieto funciona unicamente cunha r\u00e9plica da palleta achada no Museu de Etnologia, unha das palletas m\u00e1is grandes que temos documentado, feita de cana sen cristal e sen xugo [fig. 10]. O punteiro de Pedrazales, funciona con palletas tam\u00e9n bastante grandes, igualmente da parte branda da cana e<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>pero cunha estrutura totalmente diferente e por veces con xugo [fig. 11], palletas que os seus donos seguen fabricando. Anchura da pala 12\/13 mm. \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-r6zbm1-3ac0c3806ab0ec74265cc060e605d91f '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" >\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\" id=\"style-css-av-pu6ul5-68fb17109b22316725615e09df0b2b6a\">\n#top .hr.hr-invisible.av-pu6ul5-68fb17109b22316725615e09df0b2b6a{\nheight:30px;\n}\n<\/style>\n<div  class='hr av-pu6ul5-68fb17109b22316725615e09df0b2b6a hr-invisible  avia-builder-el-84  avia-builder-el-no-sibling '><span class='hr-inner '><span class=\"hr-inner-style\"><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-lzp23w3d-71cbaa86b57523d6238a430d11e135f8 '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>As escalas musicais destes dous punteiros, obtidas con r\u00e9plicas da palleta antiga no caso do punteiro de Juan Prieto Chimeno e con palletas orixinais fabricadas por Tarsicio Espada no caso do punteiro de Pedrazales, amosan tam\u00e9n disimilitudes m\u00e1is que notorias que podemos ver na t\u00e1boa da figura 12: o punteiro de Juan Prieto Chimeno ten unha t\u00edpica escala Sanabresa, un modo de La coa t\u00f3nica en Sib xusto, mais con certas desviaci\u00f3ns respecto ao que ser\u00eda un modo de La con graos temperados: a subt\u00f3nica est\u00e1 a 160 cents da t\u00f3nica, o segundo grao est\u00e1 30 cents rebaixado, o terceiro grao, xustamente a 300 cents da t\u00f3nica forma un terceiro grao menor perfecto; o cuarto grao \u00e1chase a 200 cents do terceiro e do quinto (Fa); o sexto grao \u00e1chase a 120 cents do quinto, formando polo tanto unha sexta menor tan caracter\u00edstica do modo de La, pero 20 cents alta; o s\u00e9timo grao est\u00e1 200 cents do sexto e forma as\u00ed unha subt\u00f3nica a 180 cents da t\u00f3nica superior, exactamente no lugar onde mellor coincidir\u00edan os seus harm\u00f3nicos co bord\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>O punteiro de Pedrazales, pola contra, af\u00e1stase moito dun modo de La, e forma o que vimos denominando &#8220;<i>modo portugu\u00e9s<\/i>&#8220;, ou sexa, un modo de Re cromatizado no que achamos unha sensible superior, un modo presente en moit\u00edsimas gaitas de fol portuguesas antigas. No caso deste punteiro en concreto, achamos tam\u00e9n unha sensible inferior en lugar da subt\u00f3nica caracter\u00edstica deste <i>modo portugu\u00e9s<\/i>, quizais por influencia da escala temperada como xa temos explicado. Alberto Jambrina indica que Ceferino Espada modificou a afinaci\u00f3n do punteiro orixinal de Juan Barrio para adaptala \u00e1 que el procuraba [Alberto Jambrina, Op. cit.]. As\u00ed, ou Juan Barrio mudou o sistema de construci\u00f3n e torneado das s\u00faas pezas, ou a orixe destes instrumentos e totalmente diversa, ou sexa, sa\u00edron de construtores diferentes. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Vexamos o que podemos saber sobre o punteiro de Juan Prieto Chimeno a trav\u00e9s da s\u00faa dataci\u00f3n polo m\u00e9todo dos desgastes que desenvolvemos na tese doutoral que estamos a rematar nos Departamentos de Historia e Matem\u00e1tica Aplicada da Universidade de Vigo.<\/p>\n<p>Como xa dixemos, este punteiro est\u00e1 constru\u00eddo en madeira de urz, posto que esta madeira ten a mesma resistencia ao desgaste que o buxo, o modelo de dataci\u00f3n \u00e9 aplicable directamente.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Da observaci\u00f3n da p\u00e1tina que amosa este punteiro podemos dicir que a nosa experiencia ind\u00edcanos que se tratar\u00eda dun gaita de polo menos finais do s\u00e9culo XIX, pois nunca ollamos unha gaita constru\u00edda no s\u00e9culo XX que amose tal profundidade e suavidade da p\u00e1tina. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Unha observaci\u00f3n atenda dos furados dixitais indica que este punteiro sufriu desgastes intencionais, pois no primeiro furado, correspondente ao polgar superior, apr\u00e9cianse claramente as marcas dunha ferramenta cortante e as correspondentes arestas de contacto. No resto de furados apreciamos tam\u00e9n as arestas de contacto, se ben a erosi\u00f3n dixital xa as dulcificou e borrou calquera marca de ferramenta cortante.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Debemos destacar que o punteiro amosa unha erosi\u00f3n no furado da subt\u00f3nica (furado n\u00ba 9, posterior, non dixital) de nada menos que 0.44 mm, e tam\u00e9n lembraremos que os desgastes intencionais nunca se practican neste furado. Tal erosi\u00f3n nesta orella non semella ser debida ao pulido que os artes\u00e1ns realizan das arestas dos furados rec\u00e9n feitos, que segundo as an\u00e1lises que temos feito no noso traballo de doutoramento rolda en xeral os 0.25 mm, por canto este desgaste poder\u00eda deberse moi facilmente ao apalpo xeral do punteiro, que debeu ser bastante prolongado no tempo para acadarmos estes 0.44 mm de profundidade neste furado non dixital. O m\u00e9todo da plaqui\u00f1a ind\u00edcanos aproximadamente uns 0.3 mm de profundidade, o que implica que non tivo un gran tempo de uso. Amosa tam\u00e9n un claro desgaste no lugar de apoio do maimi\u00f1o superior, e dicimos curioso porque nas fotograf\u00edas e v\u00eddeos que conservamos de Juan Prieto non observamos este apoio, por canto foi herdado, tocado polo menos por dous gaiteiros. Nas fotograf\u00edas de Juan Barrio, nas que s\u00f3 sost\u00e9n a gaita, tampouco observamos este apoio, por m\u00e1is que na fotograf\u00eda da figura 5 a man superior \u00e1chase perfectamente colocada sobre el na mesma posici\u00f3n que cando se toca. Se Juan Barrio empregase este apoio, o maimi\u00f1o deber\u00eda ent\u00f3n verse moi probablemente apoiado sobre o punteiro. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>O punteiro da gaita de fol de Juan Prieto Chimeno presenta unha notable caracter\u00edstica: ao medirmos o ovalado do seu fuste nos espazos entre furados, apreciamos un di\u00e1metro menor en toda a parte frontal, \u00e9 dicir, sobre a li\u00f1a que cont\u00e9n os furados. Este ovalado ten as seguintes dimensi\u00f3ns calculadas como o di\u00e1metro maior do \u00f3valo, menos di\u00e1metro menor:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Entre os furados 2\u00ba e 3\u00ba, 0.5 mm<\/p>\n<p>Entre os furados 3\u00ba e 4\u00ba, 0.7 mm<\/p>\n<p>Entre os furados 4\u00ba e 5\u00ba, 0.6 mm<\/p>\n<p>Entre os furados 5\u00ba e 6\u00ba, 0.6 mm<\/p>\n<p>Entre os furados 6\u00ba e 7\u00ba, 0.1 mm<\/p>\n<p>Entre os furados 7\u00ba e 8\u00ba, 0 mm<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Entre os furados 8\u00ba e n\u00ba 9 (orella da subt\u00f3nica), 0 mm<\/p>\n<p>Este patr\u00f3n de ovalado non pode corresponder coa t\u00edpica deformaci\u00f3n que nalg\u00fans casos sufre a madeira dos punteiros despois de ser furada e torneada, posto que esta deformaci\u00f3n medra sempre dende a cima ao fondo do fuste do punteiro. Como xa explicamos, isto acontece as\u00ed porque esta deformaci\u00f3n, \u00e9 dicir, o ovalado do fuste, depende directamente da relaci\u00f3n entre o grosor da parede do fuste e a amplitude do furado interno; as\u00ed, na parte superior do fuste, as paredes son m\u00e1is grosas en relaci\u00f3n ao furado interior, sendo esta parte moi pouco sensible ao ovalado, mentres que na parte inferior do fuste esta relaci\u00f3n \u00e9 menor, xa que as paredes son moito m\u00e1is finas en relaci\u00f3n ao furado interior, produc\u00edndose nestas zonas uns ovalados moito m\u00e1is grandes. Deste xeito, o patr\u00f3n normal de ovalado progresa de menor a maior segundo baixamos pola zona que cont\u00e9n os furados, acadando o seu m\u00e1ximo xusto arredor do furado n\u00ba 9, o que entoa a subt\u00f3nica, onde normalmente a parede do fuste comeza a engrosarse para formar a camp\u00e1, sendo ent\u00f3n, de novo, menos sensible \u00e1s tensi\u00f3ns que causan o ovalado. No punteiro de Juan Prieto Chimeno observamos exactamente o contrario a este proceso: temos un gran ovalado nos furados superiores, onde nunca se acha, que medra na parte media ata acadar nada menos que 0.7 (os ovalados nesta zona roldan normalmente os 0.2-0.3 mm); nos furados inferiores o ovalado do fuste \u00e9 practicamente nulo. Sabendo que moitos gaiteiros sanabreses e trasmontanos realizaban unha t\u00e9cnica de ornamentaci\u00f3n consistente en percorrer ou refregar o frontal do punteiro cos dedos da man inferior para producir unha especie de caracter\u00edstico tr\u00e9molo, este patr\u00f3n de ovalado queda perfectamente explicado: corresponder\u00eda co desgaste producido ao refregar o frontal do punteiro ao pasar os dedos polos furados. Posto que este refregamento nunca afecta aos dous furados inferiores, esa \u00e9 a causa de que non achemos desgaste entre o 6\u00ba, 7\u00ba e 8\u00ba furados. Este punteiro debeu ser ent\u00f3n refregado con moita intensidade e frecuencia. Tam\u00e9n sabemos por unha gravaci\u00f3n en v\u00eddeo que Juan Prieto Chimeno que este home empregaba este tipo de ornamento. Por outra parte, temos achado este mesmo patr\u00f3n de desgaste nalg\u00fans punteiros trasmontanos antigos da zona m\u00e1is pr\u00f3xima a Aliste e Sanabria, as\u00ed como informaci\u00f3ns orais sobre esta t\u00e9cnica nesta zona m\u00e1is oriental de Tr\u00e1s-os-Montes.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Observamos perfectamente a influencia da erosi\u00f3n deste refregado frontal na gr\u00e1fica de desgaste do punteiro que amosa, por iso, un perfil en S con ambos picos \u00e1 mesma altura. Da forma desta gr\u00e1fica podemos deducir que este punteiro foi tocado sempre con dixitaci\u00f3n aberta. Se tiv\u00e9semos en conta os 1.34 mm de desgaste que amosa o 4\u00ba furado, o noso modelo indicar\u00eda un tempo de uso m\u00ednimo de nada menos que 272 anos, totalmente incongruente co pouco desgaste que achamos no polgar inferior.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Vexamos se podemos corrixir o D4F. Aos 0.3 mm de erosi\u00f3n que achamos no lugar de apoio do polgar corresponder\u00edan, segundo a s\u00faa correlaci\u00f3n estat\u00edstica, uns 0.74 mm de D4F. Curiosamente, obtemos unha cantidade de erosi\u00f3n estimada para o 4\u00ba furado moi semellante se aos 1.34 mm de erosi\u00f3n medidos no 4\u00ba furado sobre o punteiro lles restamos os 0.6\/0.7 mm de desgaste causados polo refregamento frontal do punteiro (1.34-0.65 = 0.69). Isto non semella unha casualidade, pero temos que explicar por que estas d\u00faas estimaci\u00f3ns coinciden pese a ter sufrido o 4\u00ba furado desgastes intencionais.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A erosi\u00f3n intencional que recibiu este punteiro con toda seguridade afectou ao D4F en sentido de incrementar a profundidade do desgaste observado, mais debemos lembrar que tam\u00e9n dixemos que se aprecia un desgate no lugar de apoio do maimi\u00f1o superior, apoio que conduce sempre a un infradesgaste do 4\u00ba furado. As\u00ed pois, que coincidan as d\u00faas estimaci\u00f3ns que facemos do D4F (0.74 mm a partir da erosi\u00f3n do polgar e 0.69 restando o efecto do refregado frontal) pode ser explicado se o exceso de desgaste pola erosi\u00f3n intencional foi compensado polo detrimento nela causado polo apoio do maimi\u00f1o. Deste xeito, cremos que podemos empregar sen problemas a estimaci\u00f3n dunha media destas d\u00faas cantidades (0.69 e 0.74 mm) ou sexa, 0.72 mm de D4F, para calcularmos un tempo de uso m\u00ednimo para este punteiro, que se empregamos o noso algoritmo se sit\u00faa en 73 anos. Lembremos aqu\u00ed que o algoritmo de dataci\u00f3n tende a infraestimar os anos de uso.<\/p>\n<p>Posto que este punteiro foi incorporado aos fondos do actual Museu Nacional de Etnologia de Lisboa por Ernesto Veiga de Oliveira arredor dos anos 1960, ten un per\u00edodo de descanso de 65 anos, ou sexa, debeu ser constru\u00eddo arredor de 73 + 65= 138 anos atr\u00e1s, ou sexa, antes de 1886. Posto que Juan Barrio naceu en 1884, ambas datas son claramente incongruentes. Polas informaci\u00f3ns que temos [Alberto Jambrina, Op. cit.], este home tivo o seu primeiro contacto coa gaita de fol cando ti\u00f1a uns 14 anos, arredor logo de 1898. Polo que sabemos doutros artes\u00e1ns tradicionais, non se desenvolve correctamente o oficio antes duns 12 anos, por canto \u00e9 imposible que Juan Barrio puidese fabricar un punteiro de semellante complexidade (lembremos a camp\u00e1 e o complexo traballo de metal que presenta na mesa e na anela que xungue a camp\u00e1 co fuste) antes de aproximadamente uns 26 anos do seu nacemento, ou sexa en 1910, unha data 24 anos posterior \u00e1 dataci\u00f3n m\u00ednima polos desgastes deste punteiro (anterior a 1886).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Achamos ent\u00f3n un motivo para unha d\u00fabida moi razoable sobre a autor\u00eda desta gaita de fol por Juan Barrio, que apunta a que as informaci\u00f3ns de Ceferino, Modesto e Tarsicio son verdadeiras: os seus punteiros ve\u00f1en deste artes\u00e1n, ent\u00f3n este punteiro e gaita de Juan Prieto Chimeno, tan diferente dos conservados polos gaiteiros de Pedrazales, non ter\u00eda sa\u00eddo da s\u00faa man. Como podemos explicar isto, se Juan Prieto dixo ter mercado esta gaita a Juan Barrio e este instrumento semella aparecer nas s\u00faas mans nas fotograf\u00edas que conservamos? A \u00fanica hip\u00f3tese que se nos ocorre bas\u00e9ase nunha moi frecuente observaci\u00f3n entre os gaiteiros-construtores: obviamente Juan Barrio debeu comezar a tocar, como tantos outros gaiteiros-construtores (lembremos o caso de Manuel Villanueva) cunha gaita que non era da s\u00faa fabricaci\u00f3n, unha primeira gaita que os gaiteiros-construtores abandonan ao conseguir constru\u00edr unha propia e empezar a s\u00faa produci\u00f3n, pois vender gaitas e tocar cunha que non \u00e9 de un ser\u00eda incongruente. Deste xeito, podemos hipotetizar que, segundo as informaci\u00f3ns xa explicadas, Juan Barrio ter\u00eda tocado con esta gaita ata os anos 1940 ou principios dos 1950 aproximadamente, isto poder\u00eda explicar a grande similitude desta gaita coa que aparece nas s\u00faas mans na fotograf\u00eda que del se conserva. Ou sexa, tocou con ela uns 40 anos se comezou a tocar arredor de 1898. No momento en que comezou a tocar cos seus instrumentos, ter\u00eda vendido esta s\u00faa primeira gaita a Juan Prieto Chimeno [Alberto Jambrina, Op. cit.]. Esta data coincide tam\u00e9n coa indicada por Ceferino Espada para a adquisici\u00f3n da s\u00faa gaita a Juan Barrio [Alberto \u00a0Jambrina, Op. cit.], semella ent\u00f3n que nestes anos Juan Barrio xa comezara a producir gaitas que eran boas para el e tam\u00e9n para vender, de a\u00ed que vendera a s\u00faa primeira gaita, pois, repetimos, \u00e9 incongruente e obviamente unha mala publicidade para o negocio que un artes\u00e1n venda as gaitas fabricadas por el como boas, pero toque coa doutro artes\u00e1n. \u00a0<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Juan Prieto Chimeno empregar\u00eda a gaita que lle vendeu Juan Barrio a\u00ednda uns 15-20 anos ata terlla vendido, aproximadamente nos anos 1965, a Ernesto Veiga de Oliveira. As\u00ed pois, xuntamos uns 55-60 anos de uso deste punteiro por parte de Juan Prieto e Juan Barrio. Ata os 73 anos de uso m\u00ednimo que nos d\u00e1 o modelo de dataci\u00f3n, quedar\u00edan uns 15-20 anos de uso por outro gaiteiro desco\u00f1ecido de finais do s\u00e9culo XIX, quizais o que apoiaba o maimi\u00f1o superior ao tocar. Isto coincide tam\u00e9n coa dataci\u00f3n subxectiva segundo a profundidade e cor da p\u00e1tina, e tam\u00e9n co grande desgaste por apalpo que amosa o furado da subt\u00f3nica.<\/p>\n<p>Esta hip\u00f3tese explicar\u00eda tam\u00e9n porqu\u00e9 os torneados dos ronc\u00f3ns e sopretes das gaitas de Pedrazales feitas por Juan Barrio se asemellan aos da gaita de Juan Prieto: por que \u00e9 moi com\u00fan que os construtores imiten os torneados das gaitas coas que aprenderon a tocar, de a\u00ed a estabilidade nas formas dos torneados nas diferentes zonas do noroeste, unha estabilidade que se aprecia sobre todo nas pezas dos ronc\u00f3ns. Por exemplo, vimos un punteiro que pertenceu o propio Juan Barrio [fig. 16] conservado pola s\u00faa neta. Ten unha camisa de metal (probablemente lat\u00f3n) primorosamente cinguida a todo o fuste, o que demostra que este artes\u00e1n traballaba moi ben o metal; ademais, e \u00e9 evidente que lle falta unha camp\u00e1 postiza. Cit.], ach\u00e1monos de novo cunha incongruencia. Se Juan Barrio fabricaba estas gaitas de grandes resoadores, do que temos xa tres testemu\u00f1as, haber\u00eda ent\u00f3n que explicar d\u00faas cousas: a dataci\u00f3n da gaita de Juan Prieto antes do nacemento de Juan Barrio e as enormes diferenzas entre o (-s) punteiro (-s) que os gaiteiros de Pedrazales din ter adquirido a Juan Barrio e esta gaita de Juan Prieto tam\u00e9n presuntamente fabricada por Juan Barrio. Tanto as diferenzas estruturais entre os punteiros de Pedrazales e o de Prieto Chimeno, como a dataci\u00f3n deste son datos obxectivos e son compatibles con que esta gaita fose vendida a Juan Prieto por Juan Barrio. Outra posibilidade que tam\u00e9n temos perfectamente documentada na tradici\u00f3n \u00e9 que a gaita de Juan Prieto Chimeno fose a que este home empregou como patr\u00f3n inicial para fabricar as s\u00faas, desbot\u00e1ndoa despois (vend\u00e9ndoa neste caso), un fen\u00f3meno perfectamente co\u00f1ecido entre os artes\u00e1ns antigos (e modernos), que sempre comezan a fabricar copiando alg\u00fan modelo precedente da zona que lles semella adecuado. Isto explicar\u00eda a alta dataci\u00f3n deste punteiro. Sendo esta a hip\u00f3tese a adecuada, ent\u00f3n o punteiro que Ceferino Espada asignou a Juan Barrio non sa\u00edu das mans deste artes\u00e1n. Isto ter\u00eda que ser explicado doutro xeito, ou ben Juan Barrio lle vendeu un punteiro que non fora fabricado por el, ou Ceferino se sumou ao mito deste gaiteiro, consciente ou inconscientemente. Sumarse ao mito a\u00ednda acontece hoxe coas gaitas de Manuel Villanueva, non \u00e9 tampouco ningunha novidade. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Pode semellar curioso que un portador dea unha informaci\u00f3n oral errada, mais diremos en descargo de calquera informante que as\u00ed fala que isto \u00e9 un fen\u00f3meno moito m\u00e1is habitual do que puidera semellar, por exemplo, o mesmo Julio Prada dic\u00eda ter mandado fabricar o seu punteiro (informaci\u00f3n persoal de Edelio Gonz\u00e1lez), pero tanto a elevada dataci\u00f3n deste punteiro, como un enorme desgaste no lugar de apoio do maimi\u00f1o superior, que Julio non usaba, indican que este punteiro \u00e9 moito m\u00e1is antigo que Julio Prada e que foi tocado polo menos por outro gaiteiro anterior. Simplemente quizais quen lle vendeu o punteiro d\u00edxolle que era novo, ou a s\u00faa memoria fallou. O mesmo caso puido acontecer aqu\u00ed, sen que isto reste nen un \u00e1pice ao m\u00e9rito que Modesto e Tarsicio te\u00f1en, tanto pola conservaci\u00f3n do seu tocar como pola s\u00faa habilidade na construci\u00f3n de gaitas e palletas, sendo o \u00fanico caso que co\u00f1ecemos no nororeste de gaiterios tradicionais que seguen a tocar con modelos orixinais de palletas constru\u00eddas por eles mesmos, se exceptuamos uns poucos casos en Asturias. \u00a0 \u00a0<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Sexa como for a aut\u00e9ntica historia, que quizais nunca saberemos con precisi\u00f3n, o interesante \u00e9 que a gaita de fol de Juan Prieto Chimeno \u00e9 un extraordinario instrumento, tanto pola s\u00faa factura, como polo seu son, claramente encadrable na tradici\u00f3n sanabresa, unha tradici\u00f3n que contou cun mito: Juan Barrio, establecido tanto polas boas gaitas que constru\u00eda, como polo seu magn\u00edfico xeito de tocar.
